Overview

Exam 98-388: MTA Introduction to Programming using Java:

Candidates who complete this course and envisage to complete the exam are seeking to prove fundamental programming knowledge and skills using Java. This is an entry level certification that is intended for application developers working with Java. The MTA exams are targeted at secondary and immediate post-secondary level students of software development, and other entry-level software developers. The code in the 98-388: Introduction to Programming Using Java exam, uses Java SE. The syntax used in this exam is compatible with Java 6 SE through the most recent release.These Java developers and students require instruction and/or hands-on experience (150 hours) with Java, are familiar with its features and capabilities, and understand how to write, debug and maintain well-formed, well documented Java code. 

It is recommended that candidates become familiar with the concepts and the technologies described here by taking this training course.

This Course Fee excludes your exam voucher. Unfortunately, the Certiport Assessment Centres do not allow tuition providers to pay for learners and request that a learner does so themselves. Requirements

  • Grade 10
  • Learners must be 16 years or older
  • The ability to read and write in English
  • Access to a computer (PC or Mac)
  • Access to the internet
  • Computer literate (familiar with operating a computer)

Completion Requirements:

To pass this course, you must write and pass Exam 98-388: MTA Introduction to Programming using Java.

Hardware Required

  • 1 Gigahertz (GHz) or faster x86-bit or x64 -bit processor with SSE2 instruction set
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 3.0 GB available disk space
  • 1280 x 800 screen resolution
  • Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX 10 graphics card
  • Sound card with speakers or headphones is recommended

Software Required

You will need to have access to the following pieces of software depending on the pathway you're following:

  • Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 10 Server, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2008 R2. For the best experience, use the latest version of any operating system
  • The current or second most recent version of Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge
  • .NET 3.5 required. Some features may require .NET 4.0 or 4.5 CLR also to be installed
  • A PDF reader:
    • PC/Mac - Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader are good examples
    • iPhone - Reader or Adobe Reader
    • Android - Xodo, Moon+ Reader, Adobe Reader, or Foxit
    • An image viewer - most devices will come with a built-in image viewer
  • Microsoft Office 2013 or later

 


Exam Dates

You can start studying whenever you want - there are no specific course starting dates.

All of our assessments are computer-based and, therefore, done online. You are required to book an exam appointment via our Campus Assessment Centre at least 2 weeks prior to your exam date to prepare for your assessment.

Once you have located the Certiport Authorised Testing Centre (CATC) closest to you, you will need to contact them to purchase your exam voucher and schedule your exam.

Please ensure that your chosen centre is set up to administer your exam. Once you have successfully completed the exam, your Certiport Testing Centre will provide you with an exam score report, which will also be available to you on your Certiport profile. You will then receive your Microsoft Certification.
